Who’s Who

Nick the Innkeeper
Born in 1969 (not in the USA) the innkeeper has a long and rich history of running and propping up bars, He moved to Harwich in 2010 ish and is married to the long suffering Vicky and has 2 daughters.

Helen, the admin fairy aka Mother Wench.
Originally from Brightlingsea and for some strange reason always dreamed of running a B&B, Helen has worked at the Alma since nearly the start and prefers the company of dogs and plants to most people.

Shaz is awesome, when shes not working she likes to drink Carlsberg and worship the sun on her balcony. Shaz can generally be recognised by her leopard print glasses and subtle jewlery.

Stuart is head chef of the Alma, after college he worked his way to this lofty position through blood, sweat and tears, He has been known to enjoy a hot towel after a visit to the turkish barbers and lives next door to his mum.

Gemma is a Harwich girl through and through, Gem is partial to a gin or glass of red but shouldn’t be allowed to dance on tables. Gem likes fine dining and is married with the cutest little girl.

Luke is half human, half parrot. Until recently he had long locks in a variety of colours (he lost a bet) Luke dislikes ironing. He’s a nice bloke.

Maria is as mad as a box of frogs and is unable to have a picture taken with her gob closed. She likes the colour green and is a little bit sweary.

Alun (ffs don’t spell it wrong) likes football, playing computer games and fantasy TV series. Alun should not be trusted to ride a bike home and is often seen sporting a shiner from an incident with some street furniture.

Vicky is the longsuffering Mrs Innkeeper, she is a very patient and tolerant lady who enjoys singing and wine. Vicky does a lot of work behind the scenes and makes sure everybody gets paid.

Caley is the youngest and newest of our front of house managers, don’t let her innocent smile deceive you, this lady doesn’t take prisoners. Cal likes pink wine and cute dresses.

Rachel (Rach) is a biker chick, she likes nothing more than putting on leathers and getting astride a mighty machine. Rach ran away from the pier to join this circus and is one of our hardworking housekeepers.

Darien is our breakfast guru, you’ll find him poaching eggs weekday mornings. If you only work weekends or evenings then you probably don’t recognise him. He’s nice, trust us or get out of bed and find out for yourself.

Little Darren is a pain in the bum, he thinks he’s funnier than he actually is and hardly every shuts up. He does however do a half decent job keeping on top of the washing up.

Lou is very tall and likes to wear wipe clean trousers. She does something computery and thinkie during the day but turns up at weekends and moves all the till screens so short people can’t see them.

Georgina / George / Gina / GG etc. etc. is not really as grumpy as she looks in this picture. She’s got a razor sharp wit and isn’t scared of telling you that you’re wrong.

Gosia is very difficult to take a photo of as she moves too fast. Most people struggled to keep up with her even when she only used one hand. She makes damn fine bread and can swear in many languages.

Gareth / Gaz / Garth has nice hair and is pretending to read a book.

Meg R / Big Meg / Smeg is one of our wonderful wenches. She has a grumpy face that she wears for work but is actually very funny and is a teacher by day. She keeps trying to leave but keeps coming back.

Lily is Nick the Innkeepers eldest daughter, she is a sassy minx who has literally grown up in the Alma, she will soon be going to uni to learn what we’ve been trying to teach her for years.

Deb is one of our hardworking housekeepers, she is polite, efficient and punctual. Enjoys stand up comedy and snake charming.

This is Kaye, she mainly hangs out in Lambard’s. She had great hair and a smile that lights up a room.

This is Maddie, she is a superstar. She’s proper clever and will be starting her apprentice in the autumn.

This is Ryan (the one with the beard) this little chap is a better chef but can’t get kitchen crocks to fit him yet.

This is Saf, she works very hard to support her car. She loves her wheels very much and likes banter.

This is Matt, he likes nothing better than snouting about in hedgerows looking for things to eat.

This is a stick person. It represents everybody I don’t have photos of.
